Child Safety & Guardian Consent Policy

Safeguards for children participating in Academy, catering or other activities.

Version 1.1 | Effective 31 August 2026

1. Scope

This policy applies where a person under 18 participates in an AfroFusionPlate Academy session, group activity, catering-related program or another service involving direct participation.

2. Guardian authority

A parent or legal guardian must authorise participation for a child. We may require contact, emergency, allergy, medical, accessibility and pickup information relevant to the activity.

3. Safe participation

We design cooking activities with reasonable age- and ability-appropriate safeguards. Access to knives, hot surfaces, appliances or other hazards may be limited, adapted or supervised according to the participant and activity.

4. Supervision

The level of adult or guardian supervision required may vary by session. Booking information will state whether a guardian must remain present. Where a child has support needs, we may require an appropriate support person if this is reasonably necessary for safe participation and consistent with applicable disability-service obligations.

5. Images and testimonials

We require appropriate permission before using identifiable images, video, names or testimonials of children for public marketing. Consent for service participation is separate from consent for promotional use.

6. Concerns

Parents, guardians, participants and support persons should raise any safety or conduct concern promptly. We will assess concerns seriously and may modify or suspend participation where necessary to protect safety.
