"This is more than food. This is family. This is history. This is our story—served in every bowl."
AfroFusionPlate began long before it had a name. Its seeds were planted in an African kitchen where a young girl watched her grandmother run a restaurant — cooking with love, serving her community, and creating memories with every meal.
When war forced her family to flee, she, her mother, and her older sister came to Australia as immigrants. Her mother — a single mother — rebuilt their lives with courage and resilience. Those values shaped Regina Hipaingba throughout her childhood.
Healing Through Food
Years later, as a single mother herself, Regina Hipaingba walked away from a painful period and rediscovered healing in the same place her grandmother once found purpose: in the kitchen. Cooking became her peace, her strength, and her way forward.
In 2022, AfroFusionPlate was born.
Not just as a restaurant, but as a continuation of a legacy.
A legacy of African women who embraced courage.
A legacy of food that brings people together.
A legacy built across generations, continents, and kitchens.
Today, AfroFusionPlate brings the flavours of Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Congo, Cameroon, and Senegal into a fresh, modern Australian format — respectful of tradition, inspired by heritage, and made with heart.
